Blue Moon, I saw you standing there still closed

bluemoon.notel.jpg

The Blue Moon Hotel, despite its functioning web site and hopeful chatter from the operator taking reservations by phone, is still closed.

As of this afternoon, all the windows and doors of the first floor are completely papered up, although there is a sign attached to the building with the Blue Moon Hotel logo.

formertenement.jpgWhen NewYorkology called in mid-December, the operator was willing to take December reservations, and promised an opening by the end of the week -- January 1 at the latest.

When it does open just below DeLancey Street, guests will find themselves sharing the Orchard Street block with the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, its separate but excellent New York book shop, il Laboratoria del Gelato, and on the next corner, the great little cubby hole of a restaurant Little Giant.
