The original Winnie the Pooh lives in Midtown

winniethepooh.original.jpgThe original Winnie-the-Pooh target="_blank", Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and Kanga live in Midtown Manhattan, just across the street from the Museum of Modern Art. Since 1987, the menagerie has resided in the Central Children's Room at the Donnell Library Center.

In the glass case with the stuffed animals is an explanation:

These toys were given to Christopher Robin Milne between 1920 and 1922. Pooh Bear was bought at Harrod's in London for Christopher's first birthday. The toys were brought to the United States in 1947 and remained with the American publisher. In 1987, they toys were donated to The New York Public Library.
To visit Pooh bear, a rather tattered Eeyore and their other friends, enter the library at 20 W. 53rd St., map, and take the elevator to the second floor. You'll find the case immediately to your right.
