Subway and bus workers OK strike for Friday

Rank and file transit workers today authorized their union to call for an illegal strike beginning in the wee hours of Friday morning if a contract isn't reached with the MTA by the Dec. 16 deadline.

The union is seeking 8 percent annual raises while the latest MTA offer includes a 3 percent raise in the first year and a conditional raise of 2 percent in the second year.
