Strike Watch: taxi fare to airports gets cheaper

Here's maybe one thing that would get less complicated -- and possibly cheaper -- during a subway and bus transit strike: a taxi trip to or from New York City airports.

Under the city's strike contigency plan, a trip between Manhattan and JFK Airport would be a $30 flat-rate (normally $45,) while a trip between LaGuardia and Manhattan would be $20.

But trips between the airports and any outer-borough destination get charged the new "zone" rate.
