Rumors push up price for Julia Roberts on Broadway
When Julia Roberts makes her Broadway debut in "Three Days of Rain" in April, orchestra seat tickets will be priced at $126.25, according to the rumor circulating among those who work along the Great White Way.
That's the word from the Modern Fabulosity blog, which also calculated this week that based on figures released by League of American Theatres and Producers, the average Broadway ticket in 2005 sold for $68.86.
But if the Julia Roberts rumor is true, Telecharge will have to modify the prices posted on its web site, which currently show orchestra seats for $101.25, plus service charges.
"Three Days of Rain," is scheduled to begin previews March 28 with opening night set for April 19, according to Playbill. The show has a limited run, with dates only scheduled through June 18. The Richard Greenberg drama is directed by Joe Mantello and also stars Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd. Tickets have not gone on sale but Telecharge is taking advance orders for groups of 20 or more.
Greenberg, who also wrote the 2003 best-play Tony winner "Take Me Out," saw "Three Days of Rain" debut Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 1997.
It will play at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (formerly the Royale,) located at 242 W. 45th St., map.
