'Soup Nazi's' Soup Kitchen opens on 42nd Street
The original Soup Kitchen made famous on Seinfeld has closed its door, but the inspiration for the rude "Soup Nazi" character, Al Yeganeh, opened his first Manhattan franchise Wednesday on 42nd Street near Fifth Avenue.
But gone are the rules adamantly enforced by the "Soup Nazi" at the original Hell's Kitchen location. The employees at the new shop are friendly and helpful, according to the Daily News.
"I guess it's a kinder, gentler Soup Nazi," customer Dominick Iacoviello told the paper.
Two more Soup Kitchens are in the works for Manhattan by the end of the year -- one on Trinity Place the other at Rockefeller Center. Others are planned for Brooklyn in 2006.
