Rockefeller roof decks reopen after 20-year hiatus

Rockefeller Center this morning reopened to the public its stunning Top of the Rock roof decks for the first time in two decades. The 69th-floor indoor/outdoor deck and the 70th- fully exposed top-floor deck offer phenomenal views of the city. It's so good, you could make a good argument that the view is better than that from the Empire State Building, which is taller, but doesn't have the same panoramic view of Central Park.
The souvenir offerings are top notch, offering up a number of Art Deco, vintage-type designs on everything from key chains, scarves and T-shirts to money clips, cocktail shakers and an iPod case.
It's easy to miss, but on your way out be sure to look out the windows to the south. You'll find yourself looking through the General Electric sign (pictured above,) to the Empire State Building.
