'Mary Poppins' headed for Broadway in autumn 2006

London's West End hit "Mary Poppins" will move to Broadway's New Amsterdam theater on Oct. 14, 2006, according to the Daily News.
The musical is based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film, which starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
Another Disney musical, "The Lion King," will make way for "Poppins," on Broadway and move from the New Amsterdam to the Minskoff Theater on June 13, according to Playbill.
December Update: "Mary Poppins" is indeed scheduled to begin previews on October 14, 2006 with opening night set for Nov. 16.
