JFK, Newark airports add healthier food options

Food at the nation's busiest airports is getting healthier, according to a study by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington-based nonprofit group that promotes healthy eating.

JFK Airport actually ranks fourth-healthiest on the list, but not for the most appetizing of reasons. The report (in pdf format) lauds the vegetarian soy burger available at all four McDonalds at JFK. Other nutritious options at Kennedy: the grilled vegetable sandwich and the vegetable dumplings at Soup & Kim Bob or the Indian bean curries at Taste of the World.

Newark International Airport ranked No. 9 on the list, with just a few healthy options: the southwest vegetable stew at Chili's Too, the vegetables and rice at Petit Bistro and the cheeseless vegetable pizza at Villa Pizza.

They must have missed the surf and turf at Gallagher's.
