Empire State Building wedding deadline looms

The only day of the year to get married atop the Empire State Building is Valentine's Day, and the deadline for happy couples to apply for a slot is the end of this month.

Hopeful couples must write a letter by November 30 explaining why they want to get married on top of New York City's tallest skyscraper. A handful will be chosen based on originality, uniqueness and style. As if you need more incentive, winners are made members of the Empire State Building Wedding Club, entitling them to free admission to the observatory deck every year on their anniversary.

Complete information on Empire State Building weddings can be found online, while the city also provides an online guide to getting married in New York.

The city's newest high-in-the-sky public perch, Top of the Rock, will allow private corporate events atop Rockefeller Center, but alas, no weddings, according to a spokeswoman for Top of the Rock.
