'Sweeney Todd' selling standing-room tix, sometimes
The good news for "Sweeney Todd" is that it continues to get good reviews -- New York magazine this week says the dark musical leaves the audience "spooked and elated" -- but it's not selling out the house every night.
Last week while still in previews, the show filled only 71 percent of its seats, according to Playbill. Earlier this week, tickets could be purchased at a 50-percent discount at the TKTS booth on Times Square.
Standing-room tickets for the show are only available for sold-out perfomances, often going on sale only about an hour before curtain. Standing-room tickets for "Sweeney Todd" cost $26.25 and there are a couple dozen avaialable when the show sells out, according to the box office.
For other shows, see Playbill's almost-current guide to Broadway Rush and Standing Room Only Policies.
