Executive-style lounging at JFK Airport
If you need more than a simple day spa or a free wi-fi hot spot at JFK Airport, you may want to look into the new deluxe offerings from American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
As airlines are looking to cut costs in most areas, they're also looking to pamper their richest customers, for a price, the Chicago Tribune reports.
American Airlines last month opened an 11,300-square-foot Admirals Club at its new $1.1-billion JFK terminal. It has a business center, a spa-like shower area, flat-screen TVs with DirecTV, and a children's room with computers and TVs tuned to Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network. Adults can buy a day pass to the lounge for $50.
Virgin Atlantic last year opened a 7,000 square-foot Clubhouse at JFK with seating for 150. It has a booths with iMac computers, a sleek bar, pearlescent illuminated screens and a waterfall flowing into a 90-foot-long reflecting pool.
