'Russia!' opens at Guggenheim
It's not often there's cause to quote the ITAR-TASS news agency on the New York tourism front, but it's seems appropriate to go to them for the low-down on the Guggenheim's new show:
This is the biggest exhibition of Russian art ever held abroad. It covers a period from the 12th century to the present days. The United States is the first country, which will see such an impressive exhibition, showing all aspects of Russia’s cultural life. Five biggest Russian museums – the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Hermitage and the museums of the Moscow Kremlin – sent paintings from their collections to be exhibited in New York. Regional and foreign museums, as well as individual collectors, also contributed a lot to the organisation of the exhibition. Russia! will run through January 11, 2006. Admission at the Guggenheim through the length of the show is $18. The Guggenheim is located at 1071 5th Ave. at 89th Street. Map.
