NYPD starts free weekly podcast for iPod crowd
 Podcasting has hit the New York Police Department, which has launched a free weekly service that will let anyone download the reports onto their iPods, mp3 players or computers.
The first podcast has info on street closings related to the United nations General Assembly meeting, an interview with a captain from the identity theft task force with tips on how to protect your identity, (No. 1 get a free credit report,) and a phone interview with a chief in New Orleans helping out after hurricane Katrina. It runs eight and a half minutes.
NYPD Chief Ray Kelly, who is an iPod user, Newsday reports, said future podcasts will likely include updates on major cases and appeals seeking the public's help on unsolved cases.
