NewYorkology wins a silver in Lowell Thomas Awards
The Lowell Thomas Awards, one of the top honors in travel journalism, today named NewYorkology Travel as the silver award winner in its Internet Publications/Web site category for 2004-2005.
The contest, sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation, is judged by the faculty at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Top honors in the category went to Wildwritingwomen.com, which won the gold award, while Cruisecritic.com won the bronze.
The judges had some nice things to say about NewYorkology, which is just more than one year old: New York City can be intimidating, but Newyorkology.com provides visitors with a lively and accessible online resource that unlocks many of the mysteries of the Big Apple. The site serves generous helpings of timely and varied content of use to both wary tourists and jaded Manhattanites, including news about museum exhibits, tips on how to hail cabs, where to get cheap tickets to hot Broadway shows, and the eight bars in New York where smoking is still permitted. The full list of winners is posted at the Web site of the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation.
