New York Times gets jiggy in Brooklyn for 36 hours

bklynbridge.jpgThe New York Times' "36 Hours" feature, which normally examines the key things to do in a weekend away in some semi-quaint U.S. location, today looks no further than across the East River, to the city's largest borough. Its reasoning:

Thriving a century ago, Brooklyn fell off the map around the time the Dodgers went Hollywood. Now it's back. Over the last decade or so, a new generation of immigrants in search of affordable rents have brought youthful energy to the patchwork of distinctive neighborhoods.
The guide basically sticks to where to eat, shop and drink, taking in none of the traditional sights except a little lounging, (probably hungover?,) in Prospect Park and on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Even a trip to the Brooklyn Museum makes the itinerary only for the First Saturdays dance party.
