Hotel QT pool: "no one cares if you don't wear a suit"
The trendy, new Hotel QT doesn't get a very good review from the New York Times, which finds the QT is a small, small hotel after all.
The $210 "superior" class room was narrow, had scuffed walls, no sofa, table, minibar or walls for the shower ("It's kind of sexy," the front desk clerk said;) and a bunkbed was hanging two and a half feet above the king bed. It had a premium channels on the TV, and a DVD player, but the music service, called CD Jukebox, cost $8.95 for two hours.
And in case you were still wondering who the target audience for the hotel is, check out the recreation next to the lobby bar: Then there is that pool. A few tourists swim during the day, but the real action is at night. At 1 a.m. the pool, adjacent to the lobby bar, is filled with frisky 20-somethings, and the conversation is exactly as expected: Young man to young woman, "Don't worry - no one cares if you don't wear a suit." But, in fact, keeping drunken revelers safe in a shallow swimming pool requires a number of security guards, which doesn't help the atmosphere a bit. Basic rooms cost as little as $125 for one person, when available.
