Summertime remains busy for Broadway
Six shows are set to close on Broadway in the coming weeks, yet that still leaves the Great White Way busier than usual at this time of the year, Robert Osborne writes in a column appearing in Backstage.com.
The shows in their final days or weeks are "Primo," "The Constant Wife," Glengarry Glen Ross," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "Jackie Mason Freshly Squeezed: Just One Jew Talking!" and "The Pillowman." All the departures will still leave Broadway with 20 shows (21 if "Lennon," which opens Aug. 14 at the Broadhurst, does well with critics and ticket buyers), more than usual in the summertime when it always has been the custom to see the total of legiters and musicals playing on the N.Y. boards reduced to a handful. (In years past there have been as few as 10 during the dog days of August.) Earlier: 'Pillowman' to end Broadway run Sept. 18
