Gadling kicks off destination podcasts at Cafe Reggio
Cafe Reggio has been serving up coffee since 1927, when the owner of the previous business, a barber shop, was told by customers his brewing skills would make him more dough than his shearing skills.
In the years since, the cafe has been patronized by the likes of Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac and Joseph Brodsky. ("He used to alweays lose his wallet, and I mean always," the current owner says.)
Still there, amid the Italian oil paintings wood carvings, is the first capuccino machine brought to America.
All those details, and more, are delivered on Gadling's first destination podcast - the Cafe Reggio podcast.
In the podcast, Erik Olsen talks with the cafe's owner, amid the clinking mugs, and even a clip from "Godfather II," which includes a scene filmed at Cafe Ruggio.
It's a great, short little audio feature worth a listen.
Cafe Reggio is located at 119 MacDougal Street.
