4-star Manhattan hotels under $200 via Priceline

Although the price for the typical Manhattan hotel room recently hit $240 a night, there are still ways to find hotel bargains in the heart of New York City.

New York magazine has run a list of its picks for the city's best hotels under $150, and the Manhattan User's Guide has the best ones under $200. But if you're just looking for a standard room, it's worth taking a look at BiddingforTravel's guide to making the most of Priceline.

BiddingforTravel.com is free and filled with expert advice and recent user experiences that will give you a good idea of which hotel you're likley to get and tell you how much you can expect to pay.

Recently accepted bids on 4-star Manhattan hotels include $130 for the Grand Hyatt, $151 at the Millenium Hilton, $140 for The Intercontinental, $130 for the Hilton Times Square and $180 at the Sheraton NY Hotel & Towers.

The New York hotels page lists all the hotels members have reported booking via Priceline. The 4-star hotels on that list are Millennium Hilton, 60 Thompson, Tribeca Grand, Soho Grand, Morgans Hotel, 70 Park Avenue Hotel, Hilton New York, Marriott New York Marquis, Renaissance New York, City Club Hotel, Hilton Times Square, Westin Times Square, Sofitel New York, The Muse, Sheraton Hotel and Towers, The Royalton, Rihga Royal, W New York, Waldorf Astoria, Intercontinental The Barclay New York, Grand Hyatt New York, Berkshire Place, Westin Essex House, LeParkerMeridien, Drake Swissotel and The Regency. The only 5-star on the list is The Waldorf Towers.

You might want to start at the New York bidding reports to see what to expect and then hit the basic F.A.Q.s for bidding at Priceline, which will tell you how to bid one zone at a time in order to get immediate free rebids.
