'The new influx of people go to Coney Island'
In case you can't make it to the beach for this holiday weekend, you can spend some time with some classic images of Coney Island taken by Magnum Photos' Bruce Gilden. His narrated slideshow captures the people from the 1960s to mid-'80s.
"I always say if you ever want to know the demographics of New York City, you just have to go to Coney Island. The new influx of people go to Coney Island so you can see it all there," Gilden says.
For a contrast to all that, New York magazine's Look Book this week compares beachgoers in the Hamptons to Coney Islanders.
