Politely jumping the queue at the Shubert bar

Intermission at a Broadway show usually marks the beginning of two races – the mad dash to the womens restroom or for the bar. Unless you reach your destination within three minutes of the end of Act I, it’s sometimes pointless to bothering queue at all.

But one of those problems has been solved by at least one theater, the Shubert where "Spamalot" is playing. If you know you’ll want a refreshment at intermission, you can pay for your drink before the show begins, when there’s no line at all. At intermission, you can walk past the line to a spot at the end of the bar reserved for pre-pays. The drinks will be sitting there next to a piece of paper with your name on it.

You're still on your own for the bathroom queue.
