NY hikes security in response to London attacks
Hours after this morning's fatal attacks on London's tranist system, the NYPD stepped up police presence in New York's subways, buses, ferry terminals, river crossings, and transit stations, according to NY1. The NYPD tok the action as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security raised the threat level to high from elevated, but only for the "mass transit portion of the transportation sector."
Amtrak has also enhanced security, including the addition of K-9 units.
The four blasts on three London subway cars and one bus killed at least 37 and wounded more than 700, according to the latest Reuters report.
