JetBlue Airways to start service from Newark
New York City-based JetBlue Airways on Oct. 5 will begin service with introductory low fares from Newark Liberty International Airport with flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa, and Fort Myers, the airline announced today.
And beginning Nov. 17, JetBlue will add daily nonstop service between Newark and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The low-fare sale for the routes start at $69 each way for Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa or Fort Myers. (Regularly $89 to $259.) The San Juan route will sell for $99 each way. (Regularly $124 to $299.) Tickets must be purchased by July 26 for travel before December 14, 2005. (There are blackout dates from Nov. 22-28.)
The Newark routes will mean JetBlue will be operating out of all three major airports serving New York City.
Separately, Airwise News is reporting that JetBlue has purchased new 100-seat Embraer 190 regional jets that will allow low-cost service to mid-sized markets such as Raleigh and Greensboro in North Carolina and Richmond, Va. JetBlue will put seven of the new jets into service this year, and operate 43 by the end of 2007. (Link found via Online Travel Review.)
