Average NYC hotel room rate hit $240 in May - study
The average rate paid for a Manhattan hotel room in May was $240.23, up 12.6 percent from a year earlier, according to a PKF Consulting study reported in the New York Times.
An annual report from the city's tourism bureau, NYC & Co., in January said the average hotel room was an already steep $212.
The new PFK report also said New York City's most expensive hotels are getting even more so. Rooms in the city's top-luxury category in May averaged $386.15, a 15.1 percent rise over the same time a year earlier. Hotel occupancy in the top category was at 88.6 percent, and at 89.6 for all hotels in Manhattan. (Link found via HotelChatter.com.)
