Olympic team throws a rope to NY's flailing 2012 bid

The International Olympic Committee will allow New York City to modify its bid to host the 2012 summer games, according to the Associated Press.

New York's gambit was considered moot after a state panel this week refused to provide public financing to build a West Side stadium for the New York Jets, which would also serve as the centerpiece of the Olympic games. The city must now develop a new plan prior to the July 6 vote to choose the host city.
