MTA mulls satellite tracking for bus stop schedules
The city's transit agency may invest in a system that would use satellite technology to track buses on the streets of Manhattan and transmit their arrival time to bus stop screens, the Daily News reports.
If the MTA gives the green light, it would be looking to pay Siemens VDO Automotive Corp. about $7 million to start equipping seven bus lines: M15, M31, M35, M57, M66, M72 and the M116.
Somewhat related, Google's RideFinder, still in beta, has added Elite Limousines Plus to its offerings, which previously only tracked the location of Super Shuttle vans.
