Abandoned High Line railway closer to park status

highline.jpgThe one-and-a-half mile elevated, abandoned railroad line running through Chelsea is a step closer to its transformation into a park after federal officials, the Daily News reports. Construction could begin as early as this fall, with the park scheduled top open to the public in 2007.

See Friends of the High Line for more detail about the project. Also, the Museum of Modern Art is exhibiting detailed plans and photographs of the High Line through Oct. 31.
