'The Apprentice' sets spring 2006 Broadway date

If you are already sick of hearing about Donald Trump's TV show, real estate interests, outrageously expensive weddings and silly hair, there is confirmation of yet more bad news on the horizon. The Donald appears to be moving ahead with plans for a Broadway musical.

TV producer Mark Burnett -- he of "Survivor" -- is among the project's backers. His pitch:

"'The Apprentice' is a compelling drama that has touched a chord with television audiences all over the world. I had a vision for a dramatic story within 'The Apprentice' that I knew would work on a Broadway stage. This is not a spoof or a satire, it is a love story set to 'The Apprentice' as a backdrop."
The Hollywood Reporter originally reported the news in January, though Trump only recently announced the news on the season finale of "The Apprentice."

Earlier: 'The Apprentice' is Broadway bound, as a love story
