NY hotel rates rising, average night headed to $225

The average daily rate for a hotel room in New York City will top $225 this year, according to a forecast from PricewaterhouseCoopers quoted in USA Today.

In December, another consulting firm predicted New York's daily room rate would rise to $236.97 in 2005.

The return of the business traveler is the main reason for the rising rates. Though even those traveling on an expense account are feeling a pinch, according to USA Today.

Sales executive Bob Ferretti of Oakton, Va., says he's been priced out of a Marriott in Newark, N.J., because it now charges more than his company reimburses.
That's right, Newark.
