New York hotel vs New York-area hotel
In a truth-in-advertising look at the hotel industry, the New York Times singles out a few hotels for their not-so-honest assessment of their location. The only New York-area property to get mentioned was a Hyatt in Jersey City, N.J. A query for New York hotels on Hyatt's Web site offers the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson as a second of three choices. Tom Stabile, who edits the trade publication New York Construction, said the property initially played down its Jersey City connection, using the name Hyatt Regency at South Pier. Regardless, a standard room there starts at $199 a night while one at the Grand Hyatt New York, by Grand Central Terminal, will cost about $259. At least the hotel is located next to a PATH train station with direct service to Manhattan, though its website doesn't really play up that factor.
