Children filling up 11 percent of Broadway seats

With the opening of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Broadway, the Daily News offers up some etiquette tips for teens, tweens, tots - and their doting parents. Dress kids for comfort, eat sensibly before the show, and research the performance to find out if the show is age appropriate.

Children made up 11 percent of the Broadway audience last year -- about 1.3 million tickets -- and 30 percent of those were sold for children under 12, the News reports.

In hopes of luring more of the young set (which pays adult prices,) the League of American Theatres and Producers launched a kid-targeted web site, Generation Broadway.
