CBGB desperately seeking 'landmark status'

Could this be CBGB's last desperate act?

The famous East Village club is in dire financial straits with its landlord, in danger of closing, and now it's pathetically seeking landmark status to stay open.

On the CBGB site, supporters are asked to send a letter to the mayor asking if he really wants CBGB's closed "because they can't pay 40-50 thousand dollars per month rent to a non profit organization that is funded by the city, state and federal government to the tune of 23 million dollars per year."

Or you can buy some punk-rock chocolates to help them pay off the $100,000 the landlord wants in back rent and legal fees.
