$100 donation for free Shakespeare in the Park ticket

Tickets have gone on sale for this summer's free Shakespeare in Central Park shows?

What's that you say? A free show you pay for?

If you don't want to stand in line for a few hours on the day of the show, you can make a $100 donation and get a ticket in advance. The $100 is entirely tax free. But of course if you're hoping to bring a date, you're looking at $200. Otherwise, the line begins June 25 in Central Park.

"Two Gentlemen of Verona" has been added to the summer lineup, replacing "A Midsummer Night's Dream," according to Playbill.

The 2005 schedule:

"As You Like It"
June 25 - July 17
Directed by Mark Lamos, starring Brian Bedford, Lynn Collins, Jennifer Ikeda, Richard Thomas, and James Waterston.

"Two Gentlemen of Verona"
Aug. 16 - Sept. 11
Directed by Kathleen Marshall; no casting announced.

Earlier: Two by Will for Shakespeare in the Park 2005

May 20, 2005 08:19 AM in Broadway, Cheap Stuff, Romance
