Plaza's owner agrees to save more hotel rooms - AP
The owner of The Plaza hotel has agreed to convert fewer hotel rooms into condos and preserve more of the public places than originally planned, the Associated Press is reporting. From AP: Under the deal, hundreds of jobs could be saved and many of the hotel's interior spaces will be kept as they are, one of the sources said. Elad Properties, which was planning to cut the number of hotel rooms from 805 to 150, replacing the others with luxury condominiums, has agreed to increase the amount of hotel space, that source said. Update: The new plan calls for the preservation of the Grand Ballroom, Palm Court and Oak Bar, the New York Times reports. The revamped hotel will have 348 hotel rooms, though none with park views.
