The Plaza closing nears, memorabilia prices rise

With only eight more day to go before The Plaza closes its doors for an 18-month renovation, the eBay shoppers are busy bidding up all sorts of souvenirs bought (or dare we say swiped) from the historic hotel over the years. One seller notes "I didn't know that Grandma was a 'collector.'"
You've already missed the silver-plated ashtray and matchbook holder that went for $102, but you can still get in on the porcelain ashtrays (now at $82,) a pair of silver-plated mini-trays (now at $51,) a silver-ish goblet starting at $10, a postcard of The Plaza with horse carriages out front (and no skyscrapers behind it in Midtown,) and a more contemporary image of the Palm Court.
