The Gates roundup: the party's over
Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Central Park art project “The Gates” is coming down over the next two weeks. None too soon for some New Yorkers who were sick of the hype before the first curtains unfurled. Though many are sad to see them go – and all the activity it brought into the usually empty park while winterized.
The New Yorker’s Talk of the Town last week captured the mood well: The over-all social effect, which was somewhat like that of an electrical blackout or a major blizzard, minus the inconvenience, was weird and terrific. Elsewhere:
