JetBlue to add routes to Burbank and Portland in May

Low-cost airline JetBlue will begin flying to Burbank, Calif. on May 24. and Portland, Ore. on May 17, the New York-based company announced. One-way fares start at $99 one-way for either route from New York City.

Burbank will begin service with three daily flights to JFK, and will add a fourth in mid-July, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. Burbank, located in the San Fernando Valley, will be JetBlue's third outpost in the greater Los Angeles area, with service already at Long Beach and Ontario.

If you do get a chance to fly out of the quaint art deco Long Beach terminal, be sure to head upstairs for the old black-and-white pictures of the region's place in aviation history. Among the WWII, and Douglas and Boeing memorabilia are newspaper clippings of Douglas "Wrong-way" Corrigan, who did indeed mean to "accidentally" fly to Ireland (instead of Long Beach) from Brooklyn in July 1938 after denied official permission to cross the Atlantic.
