National parks in New York - mostly all free

Over at the New York Adventures in Travel Expo at the Javits Center this weekend -- where you can book a trip to Phuket or outer space -- I chatted with one of the rangers from the National Parks Service and checked out some of the great regional maps they hand out for free.

The web resources are pretty good, too. Check out the guide to the National Parks of New York Harbor and the National Parks in New York State. They run facilities ranging from the Statue of Liberty to wildlife refuges -- mostly all fee-free save for ferry costs.

Related: Adventure travel site Gadling has extensive coverage of the travel show.
