Free hours at New York museums and gardens
Update: Click the link for NewYorkology’s most recent list of free museum hours for New York, updated in December 2006.
It's not very well publicized -- for reasons you can guess -- but many New York museums and gardens are open for free for at least a few hours each week, or some, for entire months each year. Seeing as how the Met Museum has raised its "suggested" admission price this month, I thought it high time to post a current list of spots with special free hours.
First though, here are the institutions that have "suggested" admission prices, meaning that if you are so inclined you can say "I'd like to pay you a whole lotta nothing," and get in for free.
"Suggested admission" museums
