All-you-can-eat Northern Italian at English is Italian

"All-you-can-eat restaurant" makes me think Vegas, or IHOP at 2 a.m., yet Andrea Strong reports that beginning Feb. 2, English is Italian will begin doing just that with Northern Italian food. No menus, just the best the season has to offer at $39/dinner and $29/lunch.

Dinner begins with antipasti: salumi, cauliflower and Golden Raisin Caponata; charred artichokes, and stewed fennel, onions and potato; moves onto pasta: butternut squash agnolotti, ricotta mezzaluna with beef ragu, black pepper ricotta gnocchi with sausage ragout, and pastina with black truffle and Parmigiano; and ends with meats: like slow braised veal shank with roasted fennel and saffron glaze, whole boneless duck stuffed with pork, veal, rice and whole duck eggs, and ribeye with seasoned salt, aioli and mustard.
It's located at 622 Third Avenue, at 40th Street.
