New York's best burger: Donovan's Pub (so says Time Out)
Donovan's Pub in Woodside, Queens makes the best burger in the city, according to Time Out New York's extensive yet sure-to-be-challenged survey. The magazine breaks down tops in several categories, such as high-class cuts, old-school flavor and steakhouse fare, but the list culls from all the categories to tap the ten best.
1. Donovan's Pub - ($5.75,) "buttery combination of ground sirloin and chuck, the right amount of salt and a loose grind that allows the burger's juices to frow freely"
2. P.J. Clarke's - ($8.20,) "six ounces of ground chuck on a simple bun ... don't assume the bearnaise sauce is pretentious"
3. Soup Burg - ($6.25 - $9.75,) "classic diner burger ... pure Angus beef seasoned with absolutely nothing"
4. Pastis - ($12 - $13,) "a flawless burger"
5. J. G. Melon - ($7.50,) "loosely packed, grilled payyt is slightly crisp on the outside but always moist on the inside"
