Underground New York
The allure of the off-limits has a big appeal in New York. While many try to figure out how to get past the velvet rope, a new book deals with getting beyond a different "no trespassing" sign. New York Underground: The Anatomy of a City by Julia Solis hits underground streams, sewers, aqueducts, abandoned subway tunnels, and even covers "how Chinese gangs used the labyrinth of Chinatown tunnels to launch surprise attacks on rivals," according to the Village Voice. Solis will be signing the book Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at Bluestockings.
