Progress on museum plans for Ground Zero
The International Freedom Center, a museum planned for Ground Zero featuring freedom-related art, has chosen a president for its operations, Richard Tofel, vice president and assistant publisher of The Wall Street Journal, accoridng to Crains of New York. (Link found via I Want Media.) Currently there is little explanatory information at the WTC site itself, other than several plaques attached to the metal fence around the pit and changing displays at the nearby World Financial Center's Winter Garden. Limited in scope, one even touts the planned reopening of the PATH train station in December 2003. (It's been nearly a year.) The information booth at Ground Zero now has pamphlets for a cell-phone walking tour of Ground Zero as well as self-guided "Patriot Trail," which skips Ground Zero except for the mention that nearby St. Paul's Chapel was used to house relief workers after the attacks.
